Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my loved one is in good hands?

Best Friends prides itself on recruiting only the highest quality caregivers in the workforce. We perform a criminal background check complete with fingerprints on every caregiver we employ. In addition, we perform an extensive employment work history to ensure he or she has a positive record. It is important to us that we place the right caregiver with each client, that's why we schedule a meeting between you and the Companion prior to service beginning.

How can I schedule an in-home interview?

Simply call us at 904.277.0006 or fill out this quick contact form or click the "Request A Consultation" button at the bottom of this page. We will contact you to schedule a meeting that's convenient for you.

After the in-home interview, am I obligated to use your services and is there a charge for the in-home interview?

No, you are not obligated to use our services simply because you scheduled an interview, and there is no charge for our in-home interviews.

Is Best Friends Licensed and Insured?

Yes, we are registered and licensed with the State of Florida. We are also insured and bonded.

Who selects the caregiver for my loved one?

You do. After we meet with you and conduct our in-home interview, you then meet the caregiver we have matched with the client. If you are not completely comfortable with him or her, then we introduce another one for you to interview. You are in control at all times.  In addition, we stay in touch with you to make sure things are going well.

Are your services affordable?

We are not a member of a national franchise but rather a small, family-run business. Because of this, our overhead is low, and this allows us to keep our rates affordable. If you have checked on prices that nursing homes or assisted living facilities are charging, then you will agree that the rates for our individualized and comprehensive services are very reasonable.

During your initial call or during our no-cost in-home assessment, our care experts will help determine whether or not your insurance will cover all or part of the home care services we provide.

We accept many long term care insurance plans, major health insurance plans, VA benefits, and private pay.

Do I have to select a plan or can I choose a la carte services?

Best Friends believes you and your loved one should be in control of his or her care. We don't pressure anyone into a cookie-cutter plan. If Personal Care services are initiated, a custom, personalized Plan of Care will be developed during the initial nursing assessment.

Are all your services long-term?

No. While we absolutely provide long term services, we'll also be there during difficult times providing short term supportive care and assistance and help with transportation needs. Whether your loved one needs help for a day or for the long term, our services can be tailored to suit your needs.
